About Kibale National Park
Covering approximately 795 square kilometers, Kibale National Park is a tropical rainforest ecosystem rich in biodiversity.
The park is home to 13 primate species, including:
- Chimpanzees
- Red colobus monkeys
- Black-and-white colobus monkeys
- L’Hoest’s monkeys
- Grey-cheeked mangabeys
- Red-tailed monkeys
- Bushbabies and pottos
Nearby, Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary offers excellent birding with over 300 bird species recorded.
Chimpanzee Trekking Experience
Chimpanzee tracking takes place twice daily—morning or afternoon sessions.
After a briefing by park rangers, you will enter the forest in search of habituated chimpanzee groups.
Once located, you are allowed one full hour to observe them as they:
- Feed
- Groom each other
- Play and communicate
This is one of the most intimate wildlife experiences in Africa.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Depart from Kampala and drive west to Kibale National Park.
Enjoy scenic views of tea plantations, rural landscapes, and crater lakes along the way.
Arrive in the afternoon, check into your lodge, and relax.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Community Walk
Start early with breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing.
Proceed for chimpanzee tracking in the forest.
After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided community and nature walk.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala with scenic stopovers along the way.

Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
Upon your arrival, a driver guide from Ultimate Wild Safaris will pick you from the airport or any place of your choice to start your trip to Kibaale Forest. You will start your drive to western Uganda through the beautiful green scenery through tea plantations. You will have a chance to interact with local people during the walk through the market after lunch. Thereafter you will have a one-hour drive to Kibale forest where you will be able to spot some monkeys, birds, and Baboons during the stopovers.Accommodation Category:

Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking
Today you will have your breakfast at the lodge and prepare for your trip for a Chimpanzee walk. Kibale forest consist s of 13 primate species the only National park to see many types of monkeys like; the wonderful Red Columbus, Grey-cheeked mangabey, Black and white Columbus monkey, L’hoest monkey, and Chimpanzees. Here you will be able to see our cousins and the trip takes 3-4 hours to walk through the tropical rainforest with the experienced guide. After lunch, you will visit the Bigodi swamp walk to spot some monkeys and bird species and that takes you through grassland, small communities where the locals are very enthusiastic to shake hands with white people through coffee plantations and people's gardens to see how they do daily work.Accommodation Category:

Return Back to Kampala
Today after breakfast, you will drive to Kampala and do a city tour where you will visit the numerous crafts markets, Kampala taxi park with hundreds of commuter taxis jam parked in a small park, visiting Kampala’s biggest Mosque that was sponsored by Late Muammar Gadhafi – the former President of Libya. You will have lunch in a nice restaurant of your choice in Kampala and a late flight back home.Journey Time: 6-7 Hours
