Kibale National Park is one of the short tours to western Uganda for chimpanzee tracking an activity that will get you in contact with primates that share 99% DNA with human beings. On these 3 days, the Kibale National Park chimpanzee trekking tour will bring you on a chimp trek inside the Kibale forest. There are 2 times for trekking opportunities per day i.e. morning or afternoon. You are allowed to stay with the chimps for a maximum of one hour after locating them.

Kibaale National Park - The primate capital of the world:

This mainly forested Kibale National Park covers 795sqkm in the area and is best known for its primate species in Uganda and Africa as a whole! Chimpanzees the man’s closest relative is not all that the Kibale National Park has to offer- you can also see the uncommon L’Hoest’s monkey and East Africa‘s largest population of the threatened red colobus monkey other primate includes the black and white colobus monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey (Uganda mangabey) red-tailed monkey, bushbaby, and potto. The nearby community-run bigodi wetland sanctuary offers birders an impressive bird list of 335 species.

The Uganda Mangabey (Lophocebus Uganda) is a species of Old World monkey found only in Uganda. This crested mangabey was previously thought to be just a population of the grey-cheeked mangabey (L.albigena). Colin Groves upgraded the Ugandan population into the new species L.ugandanae on February 16, 2007. This species is dramatically smaller than the grey-cheeked mangabey, with a shorter skull and smaller face.

Day 1
  • 08:00 AM

    Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
    Upon your arrival, a driver guide from Ultimate Wild Safaris will pick you from the airport or any place of your choice to start your trip to Kibaale Forest. You will start your drive to western Uganda through the beautiful green scenery through tea plantations.
    You will have a chance to interact with local people during the walk through the market after lunch. Thereafter you will have a one-hour drive to Kibale forest where you will be able to spot some monkeys, birds, and Baboons during the stopovers.

Day 2
  • 08:00 AM

    Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking
    Today you will have your breakfast at the lodge and prepare for your trip for a Chimpanzee walk. Kibale forest consist s of 13 primate species the only National park to see many types of monkeys like; the wonderful Red Columbus, Grey-cheeked mangabey, Black and white Columbus monkey, L’hoest monkey, and Chimpanzees.
    Here you will be able to see our cousins and the trip takes 3-4 hours to walk through the tropical rainforest with the experienced guide. After lunch, you will visit the Bigodi swamp walk to spot some monkeys and bird species and that takes you through grassland, small communities where the locals are very enthusiastic to shake hands with white people through coffee plantations and people's gardens to see how they do daily work.

Day 3
  • 10:00 AM

    Return Back to Kampala
    Today after breakfast, you will drive to Kampala and do a city tour where you will visit the numerous crafts markets, Kampala taxi park with hundreds of commuter taxis jam parked in a small park, visiting Kampala’s biggest Mosque that was sponsored by Late Muammar Gadhafi – the former President of Libya. You will have lunch in a nice restaurant of your choice in Kampala and a late flight back home.
