Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Goma (Congo Transfer)
Arrival in Kigali, where your safari guide meets you at the airport or hotel.
Drive through scenic Rwanda landscapes to the Goma border crossing into Congo. After immigration procedures, continue to your lodge in the Virunga region.
Overnight: Mikeno Lodge / Bukima Tented Camp / Kibumba Tented Camp
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early breakfast and transfer to the Bukima ranger post for briefing.
Begin your first gorilla trekking adventure inside the Virunga rainforest. Trekking may take 2–7 hours, depending on gorilla movement.
Once located, enjoy one full hour observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
Return to the odge for relaxation.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early morning briefing and return to the forest for a second gorilla trekking experience.
Each trek offers a unique gorilla family encounter, increasing your chances of diverse behavioral observations.
Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking Adventure
After breakfast, transfer to the chimpanzee trekking briefing point.
Enter the Virunga forest in search of habituated chimpanzee groups. Trekking takes 2–7 hours, depending on their movement.
Spend time observing chimpanzees in their natural rainforest environment.
Returnto the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Return to Kigali & City Tour
Early breakfast, check out, and drive back to Rwanda via the Goma border.
Proceed to Kigali for a short city tour, including:
- Kigali Genocide Memorial
- Local craft markets
- City viewpoints
Transfer tothe hotel or Kigali International Airport for departure.
